Another delay in resolution of Superintendent’s investigation.

Round Rock ISD parents and community members will have to wait yet again to learn the fate of Superintendent Dr. Hafedh Azaiez. Azaiez was placed on administrative leave by a reluctant board on January 6th. The Board was to meet in closed session regarding Azaiez on February 3rd, but that meeting was cancelled due to inclement weather. The called meeting was then rescheduled for February 10th, but again was cancelled – this time due to a lack of quorum. The Board had voted for the results of the District’s investigation to be reported at or before the February regular board meeting on Feb 17th. However, according to a post yesterday by Trustee Vessa on social media, “it appears the investigator isn’t available to attend the meeting on Thursday.” As of today, Round Rock ISD has been under interim leadership for 42 days, without any evidence of wrong-doing by the Superintendent hired by its democratically elected school board.

Despite the lack of information on the District-commissioned investigation, tonight’s agenda includes closed session discussion of Azaiez under agenda item M. Also on the agenda: teacher and staff retention, sex education, and 2022-23 & 2023-24 school calendars.

Thursday’s regular meeting begins at 5:30pm. The Board will hear public comment on agenda items prior to going into closed session. Sign-up for public comment remains open until 2:30PM today. The sign-up link will be posted in the agenda. In-person speakers may sign up to address the Board in person beginning at 4:30pm. Access Education RRISD offers support for like-minded community members interested in being heard at school board meetings; contact info@accessrrisd.org. Community members can also submit written comments to the board at any time via an email to board_of_trustees@roundrockisd.org.
